I know it’s been said here before, but now in our final days at Rick’s Cafe it can not be overstated just how much it meant for cafe owner Richard Ilnycki to give knife | fork | book a home this past year. Rick has always been quick to say it was ‘all my doing,’ but I know differently. Rick, you, you saying yes, changed my life. Not only mine, but the lives of many connected to the cafe and the shop. This is how knife | fork | book came into being: your generosity. You’re now a part of Toronto’s literary story forever. My life was made so much richer by being part of your beautiful family, and the regulars there who also welcomed me with such open arms. Isabel, Drew, Nathan, Dylan, Bri-Bri, I treasure each of you dearly and thanks for your love. You kept me going.
