Trevor Abes is an artist from Toronto with a fondness for writing essays and poetry. He was part of the winning ensemble at the 2015 SLAMtario Spoken Word Festival, and competed in both the National Poetry Slam and the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word as part of the Toronto Poetry Slam team. His work has appeared in Torontoist, untethered, Spacing Magazine, Mooney on Theatre, and Hart House Review.
Born and raised in India, Ayesha Chatterjee has lived in England, the USA and Germany and now calls Toronto home. She is the author of two poetry collections, The Clarity of Distance, and Bottles and Bones. Her work has appeared in journals across the world and has been translated into French and Slovene. Chatterjee is past president of the League of Canadian Poets. She currently serves as chair of the League’s Feminist Caucus. She is a juror for the 2019 VINE awards for Jewish-Canadian Literature.
Rayanne Haines is an award-winning fiction author and poet and the co-host of the poetry podcast, Let’s Get Lit. In 2018, she was a feature artist for Capital City Press with Edmonton Public Library. In 2019, she was named Writer in Residence at Audreys Books and shortlisted for Edmonton Poet Laureate. She’s had work appear in Free Fall, the Funicular, Wax Poetry and Art and others. Her poetry video, I am Here to Use my Voice has over 5800 views on YouTube. Stained with the Colours of Sunday Morning, her debut Novel-in-Verse (Inanna Publications 2018) released to positive critical acclaim and was a finalist for the Canadian Authors Association, Exporting Alberta Award.
Shazia Hafiz Ramji is the author of Port of Being, a finalist for the 2019 Vancouver Book Award, 2019 BC Book Prizes (Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize), Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, and winner of the Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Poetry Northwest, Quill & Quire, Best Canadian Poetry 2019 and Canadian Literature. CBC recently named her as a “writer to watch” and listed Port of Being as one of the best Canadian poetry books of 2018. Shazia lives on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh nations, where she works as an English and creative writing instructor and as an editor for various presses across Canada. She will appear at the Singapore Writers Festival in November 2019. Shazia is a columnist for Open Book and is currently at work on a novel.
